The film is a modern fairy tale about an office clerk and his attempts to make his colleagues happy. But instead of the classical cliché Christmas gifts, he wants to give them something real and precious.The lead roles are performed by Dirk Van Dijck and Koen Van Impe. The film was scripted by Geert Verbanck and produced by Anja Daelemans and Dries Phlypo for Another Dimension of an Idea. Director of photography is Frank van den EedenZAEEEEEEE.Tanghi Argentini, starring Dirk Van Dijck, Koen Van Impe and Hilde Norga, has been selected for more than 65 international film festivals and already grabbed close to 30 awards. Awards include the Grand Prize on Rhode Island, the Audience Awards in Aspen and Clermont-Ferrand, the BAFTA Award for Excellence in Aspen, as well as the Audience Award at the Abu Dhabi Middle East International Film Festival. At the Los Angeles Short Film festival, it received the Award for Best Foreign Film, while Tanghi also grabbed the Best Belgian Short Award at the Flanders Film Fest and the Main Award at the Cine Jeune International Film Fest of Saint-Quentin. Tanghi Argentini has been shown in the meantime to festival audiences in Montreal, Sao Paulo, Utrecht and Palm Springs. Next festival stops include Boulder, Byron Bay, Trondheim, Florida, the European Short Film Festival in Reus (Spain) and on the River Run filmfestival in North Carolina.
The Tanghi Argentini nomination is the second Oscar nomination for producer Anja Daelemans. In 2003, Gridlock (Fait d’hiver) by Dirk Beliën also got nominated in the same category.
